Changing the Narrative is an immersive reentry simulation designed for employers interested in strengthening their workforce by better understanding justice-involved talent—especially parents returning home from incarceration. Participants step into the role of individuals navigating work, family responsibilities, and reentry requirements, gaining insight into the real barriers that can prevent qualified, motivated candidates from succeeding at work. Nearly 50% of people in federal prison are parents, many eager to rebuild stability through employment. This experience explores how inclusive hiring and supportive workplace practices can interrupt cycles of justice involvement, strengthen families, and expand access to skilled, resilient workers. Attendees will also hear directly from parents with lived experience in the justice system, sharing what helped them succeed—and what made reentry harder. Join Triad Goodwill, Resilience High Point, Step Up Greensboro to learn, reflect, and help shape a stronger, more inclusive workforce for North Carolina’s future.
